Daylight Piece | Installation

Ein Raum im Bunker wird hell mit fluoreszierenden Tageslichtröhren beleuchtet. Die
Röhren selbst sind so unauffällig wie möglich installiert, so dass sie nicht selbst zum Ausstellungsstück werden. Die Tageslichtröhren erlauben dem Betrachter, Einzelheiten des Bunkers in einem Licht zu sehen, das in diesem Raum nie zuvor existiert hat. Von anderen Orten im Bunker wird der beleuchtete Raum wie ein Zugang zu einem hellen Sonnentag erscheinen. In dieser Installation kann der Bunker nichts anderes sein als er selbst; seine Rolle in der Berliner Geschichte benötigt nichts anderes als eine Illumination. Der Raum selbst wird zur Ausstellung. Ob unter philosophischer oder biologischer Perspektive, das Werk handelt zugleich von den Ideen über das Sehen und Verstehen wie vom Unterschied zwischen ihnen.

A space in the bunker will be brightly lit with fluorescent daylight-balanced tubes. The
tubes themselves should be as inconspicuous as possible so that they do not become a
piece in themselves. The daylight-balanced tubes allow the viewer to see the details of
the bunker in a light that has never previously existed in the space. From other parts of
the bunker, the lit space will be seen as an access-point to a bright, sunny day. For this
piece, the bunker cannot be anything but itself and its role in the history of Berlin does
not need anything but illumination. The space itself becomes the installation. Whether
philosophical or biological, the work is equally about the notions of (and the differences
between) seeing and understanding.
