Am 9.11.1989 fiel die Mauer zwischen Ost- und Westberlin. Buenos Aires wurde mit New
York durch ein VISA WAIVER-Programm verbunden. Eine schwere wirtschaftliche Krise im
Jahr 2001 zwang viele Argentinier dazu, dieses Programm zu nutzen, um illegal in die USA
zu gelangen. Schon bald nach dem 11.9.2001 wurde dieses Programm beendet und eine
virtuelle Mauer zwischen den beiden Ländern errichtet. Nur wenige Menschen aus dem
Süden können die Grenze derzeit frei überschreiten.
Die dreidimensionale Installation und die Performance reflektieren die ökonomischen
und politischen Grenzen, die fortwährend weltweit gezogen werden. Verwendet werden
Flugpläne von beiden Seiten der Mauer (Buenos Aires, New York und Berlin).Was zwingt
uns, auf die andere Seite zu gelangen – freier Wille oder der Mangel an Möglichkeiten?
Was ist auf der anderen Seite – eine freie Welt oder nur eine weitere Falle?
Während der Performance wird Reina – eine argentinische Flugbegleiterin, personifiziert
durch den Künstler – mehrmals am Tag den Besuchern mit Lande- und Abflugsformalitäten behilflich sein. Allerdings wird sie niemanden ohne ein Visum passieren lassen.

On Nov. 9, 1989 the wall dividing East and West Berlin fell. Buenos Aires was linked to New
York by a VISA WAIVER program. A severe economic crisis in 2001 forced a huge number of Argentineans to take advantage of the program to move to the U.S. illegally. The program
was terminated son after Sept 11, 2001, and a virtual wall arose between the two countries.
Only very few from the south can freely cross into the U.S. now.
Using airport plans from the different sides of these walls (B.A., N.Y.C., and Berlin), this tridimensional installation and performance reflects upon the economic/political barriers
constantly rising around the world. What impels us to move to the other side - free will,
or a lack of opportunities?
What’s on the other side - a free world, or another trap?
During the performance, Reina . an Argentinean Flight Attendant impersonated by the
artist . will be available several times during the day to assist visitors with landing and
arrival documentation. But she won’t let anyone go without a visa.

Jose Luis Anzizar graduierte 1985 als Wirtschaftsprüfer an der Universität in
Buenos Aires und besuchte die Werkstätten von Margarita Paksa und Maria Luisa
Manassero in Buenos Aires, Argentinien, wo er eine Ausbildung in Bildender Kunst
bekam. | Graduated as a Certified Public Accountant from the University of Buenos
Aires in 1985 and attended the workshops of Margarita Paksa and Maria Luisa
Manassero in Buenos Aires where he received formal training in the visual arts.
